In this cabaret-recital program, Anne will explore questions of representation, stereotype, and how seeing Jewish women on stage and screen teaches us how to express ourselves and our Judaism. Why do we need to see ourselves onscreen? What do we learn about our own identities from watching musicals and movies about Jewish women? How do the Jewish performers of the past like Molly Picon, Fanny Brice, Judy Holliday and Barbra Streisand pave the way for Jewish performers today? Anne will be assisted, as always, by Andrew Voelker.
This program will take place in the "one night only" piano bar in the basement of the "round building" at Jacobs School of Music. Seating will be limited, but we will also be streaming at this link.
